What does the 20 mean? Are there only 20 proofs or is this number 20 out of a set number?

honestly not 100% sure, I think only 20 originals were made which were authenticated and any others without certifs are copyrights but dont quote me on that I never thought of it before sorry i cant be more help, but i will try to find out more for you if i can

You know, I saw some pics online and all of them said 20. So, I think you are right... 20 proofs total. Just weird why they didn't assign a number to each proof lol

i tried looking into it, I added some updated info onto the auction ...Im still not sure why it says proof 20 it didnt make any sense if you see the updates i added i found they were made for special packages people booked through disney vacations but only for 1 months while supplies lasted so from that i cant imagine or know for sure the amount made of these but they were only available for sale for 1 month only with reservations to disney...sorry i couldnt be more help :(

“What is an Artist's Proof?”

To achieve the quality of print required by the artist, a large number of test proofs are run off one at a time and fine tuned until such time as this quality is achieved. At that point a number of ‘artists’ proofs’ are run off as pre-press prints before the first of the Limited Edition Prints.

It is generally acknowledged that these should not represent more than 10% of the Limited Edition and are the sole property of the artist (whereas the Limited Edition can be the property of a publisher). Unlike the Limited Edition Prints, these are not numbered, but are signed and feature the notation A/P (to signify Artist’s Proof). Many collectors value these Artist’s Proofs more highly than the Limited Edition for their multiple cachet of being limited to no more than 10%, being available solely from the artist and bearing the notation A/P.

So basically there were 20 proofs before the limited editions rolled out. Limited editions are numbered. Proofs are NOT but ARE signed. Maybe the pin is the way they "sign" or prove it's a proof lol

I believe the AP 20 means that there is a total of 20 artists proofs in this run of pictures. It is not a total of 20 prints made. I could be wrong though. Very nice auction.

I actually have a copy of this picture. I got it in 2003 when I went to Disneyworld for my honeymoon. We saw it in the gallery there, & it was priced over $100 then, & that was nearly 11 years ago! It is a great & valuable piece to have. Happy bidding!
