The Eastern Redbud is a large shrub or small tree native to eastern North America from Southern Ontario, Canada south to northern Florida, United States
6 fresh seeds in a packet are available with this auction.
The flowers are showy, light to dark magenta pink in color, 1.5 cm (½ inch) long, appearing in clusters from March to May, on bare stems before the leaves, sometimes on the trunk itself.
This tree with it's blossoms is a beautiful sight.
You will want to grow this for yourself.
A 10 year old tree can be 15 feet tall.
The leaves are very attractive also.

I adore redbuds. How long to germinate?

Seed of the redbud have hard, impermeable seed coats in addition to dormant embryos. Seed require both scarification and cold stratification before they will germinate. Redbud seed can be scarified by soaking seed in boiling water for one minute. Once scarified, the seed should be stratified at 35 to 41 F for 5 to 8 weeks. Seed should be planted promptly at a depth of 1/4 inch.
Germination usually occurs within two to three weeks.
