It could be a Wheaton copy or Clevenger brothers copy. If it has a pontil on the bottom with a tooled lip it just may be authentic. Detonation of the glass should be present to some degree it has been buried for a long time. If the color of the glass is mid to deep purple it is definitely a fake. But seeing the size is small leads me to believe it's a copy. I studied glass extensively and from what I see it's a reproduction made in the 20th century. You can get a reproduction bottle for as little as 5 dollars. If it is real it would be worth 60,000 credits. As a reproduction I wouldn't go any higher that 5,000 credits.

All I know is I personally dug it up 16 yrs. ago right next to Tourch Lake in N Mi. I'm not sure how to figure out if it's from the 70's or earlier??? I'll try to do some research. Thank you. Nikki

Geez I don't know if I'd call that "psychotic" or not, but I guess that is the word Listia will let you say on here lol You must be a gentle soul, I don't think I would of taken it very well. Well in fact, I know I wouldn't! Been there but mine went a bit farther and lets just say the "psychotic" best friend and I met up somewhere to talk...once she lied, I just saw red O_o No sadness on my part...they say violence doesn't solve anything...I believe it depends on the matter! I know it helped me at the moment with no regret! ;) I haven't listed yet, I have been going through my stuff and deciding what to put up and I "THINK" today I will be posting lol I hope so, I have so much to do it's crazy! Keep popping in, hopefully I can get some started on here (fingers crossed) lol

I would have said the same thing last year, my friend and I dug up a bunch of bottles in Tourch Lake Mi. And my friend of 20 yrs. had a psychotic episode and started leaving my husband messages talking bad about me and he should go to her and she'll take care of my son???? Weird and depressing, you really just never know, this bottle is great and I love antiques but this one holds bad karma for ONLY me :) bid on it, it would look great as a set. Nikki

Wheaton repro's are alot better than the Taiwanese ones which are 70's also, but oto is right about the price range but then if your into that kind of small bottle then lol beauty and price is in the beholder :) Nice bottle but and i find this a lot on listia the auction is way to long for me,so I'm iffy as to whether i will be here to bid on it :) hope you get a lot for it :) best of luck to all bidders :)

I saved a copy of your picture and enlarged it. It is a wheaton bottle, reproduction, and critr is right about his assumption. Hey, a reproduction is ok but it's definitely not the real thing from the mid 1800's. You can buy them on ebay for just a few dollars.

That is interesting, I really never knew much about this except I dug it up right next to Tourch Lake in N Mi. About 16 yrs. ago. I'm going to actually look into this more. Thanks. Nikki

It's not really big, I'd say a little over 2in. Bens face is molded in the glass, it is one of my favorites we found, my friend Up N has the rest and were not speaking anymore :(
