it is supposed to,by inviting the doggie or kitty to drink more which will help them as well,if you use it for kitties I read a article about a kitten having kidney problems and a vet recommended her to buy one of these you can look it up on your computer if that will help thank you for your comment and i'll fan you fan me back please
