o , sorry man, i didn't mean to confuse anyone. It will work in some of the orginal ps3's like I have , mine plays ps1,ps2 and ps3 games.

Most ps1 discs will run in all models of the ps3. The models referred to as "backward compatible" mean they can also play ps2 discs. But I've got a slim ps3 160gb and all my ps1 discs work. Fan me if I helped!

That is correct! Although ps2 games are DVD format and all ps3 models can play DVDs, it took a special chip to run ps2 discs, which they removed to lower the retail price, way before releasing the slim model, and now the super slim.

yes, can't believe that chip could cost that much but who knows. I have the original 60 gig, so it plays them all , I love this thing.
