What is the metal and are the pearls real?

I am uncertain of the metal, it is quite soft, not sure if that helps... and to my knowledge the pearls are real. That being
said, in my opinion they are to white to be real given the age of the age of the set,but again I am not a jeweller. :)

You can tell if the pearls are real if you rub them on your tooth...if it feels rough its real if it feels smooth its not! Hope this was helpful! :)

I am aware of that, however that can damage the surface of the Pearl given its age. I am not taking any Chances with the set. I did do the black light test, and they appear to be real... and they are not perfect, which also lends to them being genuine.
