The listing, Vintage compact has ended.

This is a very cute little compact designed as a purse with a chain handle. On the outside there is a oval mosaic motif of pink roses in a gold vase. There are no markings, but looks to be European.

Yes, the latch works just fine...it snaps together. It's real solid so I don't think it would be too easy for it to break or even tweek! Hope I answered your question satisfactory.
