Had a difficult time deciding what category to put this in and hope I've made the right decision.

This is a real treasure for those you who love crocheting or who have wonderful memories of watching their mother, grandmother or great-grandmother creating wonderful family heirlooms. It wasn't easy deciding whether or not I was going to auction this and whether or not I was going to list here or on that "other" very popular website. It was actually my great-grandmother's, passed on to my grandmother, mother and then myself about 10 years ago. The cover is in poor condition because my mother had placed in a bx. which had been stored for yrs, in the rafters of their garage. Other than the cover, the remaining of the book is in good condition. It contains not just instructions for some very nice items, but lovely illustrations of the wonderful projects such as lamp shades, purses, slippers, clothing and much more!

I am such a sucker for Victorian items. I live right between the two old mills that are featured in your display. So much history! Many of those old mills have been renovated into lux apartments. I love the lamp shade and the slippers remind me of Uggs. I can see why it's tough to give it up! I don't think I could. Wish I had more points. Good luck!

Oh My Goodness.....This is now the 3rd time I've attempted to reply to your comment but for some reason my reply isn't posting.

What are the odds of someone who actually lives between the two mills that are more than 100 yrs. old, pictured in the auction, and actually clicking on the link, seeing the pictures and replying! woW, woW!

It amazing that the mills are still standing and I'm so so happy to hear that they have been renovated rather than being another piece of history that's been destroyed for the sake of a shopping mall! In fact this past week I read about, and saw pictures of numerous old churches that have been purchased for pennies on the dollar by private citizens whom have then turned these old churches in to magnificently beautiful homes. A few have also be turned in to beautiful lofts and luxury apts like the mills...

And the slippers.....yes, they do look like Uggs and everyone should have a pair. My Uggs have been worn a great deal these past several wks...
There are several pictures in this book that bring back childhood memories. My grandmother & great-grandmother were always crocheting and darning something! If they were darning a pair of socks, they were crochets a beautiful table cloth, collar for a piece of clothing, doll cloths for our dolls or a beautiful trim for one of their projects. We all ALWAYS had hand made slippers through our childhood as well as several other things that we simply took for granted at that time of our life....

Wow! What a great find you have here. I also offer vintage text similar to this, but in eBooks. (I Have a text similar to this from 1863!! U have such an in-hand gem here....good luck in your sale! Good luck to the bidders.

Thanks for your comments. I'm wishing now that I hadn't listed it as I thought it would do better than it's doing. I believe someone is likely going to get a terrific deal with this one.....This is what Listia is all about!
