from my manic panic experiences of the last 2 decades: If your hair is medium brown, it will still be really red. If it is dark brown, it will be mostly red highlights. I would not recommend bleaching more than a couple shades lighter than your natural haircolor unless you are willing to cut it all off after your color experiments are over.
I've been using Manic Panic for a couple decades and I have dark brown hair. I have never bleached my hair, I just know how to make it show on my hair. In the pic of me here I have two different colors in my hair, in my own version of an ombre kind of dye job. Hannahkoelingpeck thanks for this auction, am watching and will be bidding. Take care, skiwitch :D
If you bleach it once it isn't going to do that much damage. Just be sure to condition it well. It's continuous bleaching that seriously does damage. If you are unsure you could always just bleach your ends and do a dip dye look. That way it is easy to remove any damaged hair.
MyUsedRomance, I usually had very long hair dyed over my natural hair color (medium brown) and it looked great ...except when I did emerald green it looked kind of gross as it was fading out... I once blond/bleached half my head and had half blonde half black cruelly deviled style, but I started with shorter than shoulder length hair. It was very bright when dyed! Not as much to my liking actually. Manic panic fades out over a period of time up to 3 months it lasts longer on lighter hair and it also depends how much you wash it. I cut it all off after about 6 months cuz I was sick of the bleached bit. I'm sure you will not have much trouble of you just bleach once but try not to over process your hair. Hair grows fast anyway. ;) good luck!
Myusedromance do you see my hair in my photo? I bleached my hair 2 times before adding color. I do not have to "cut" my hair, and I am planning on bleaching again because my roots are showing. Use a reconstruction or moisturizing mask after and your hair will be fine. I suggest bleaching for brighter colors. If you want your hair like it looks in the jar, you will have to bleach.
Love the color! I'm just wondering here, OK my natural color is a medium brown;, but It was dyed a while back with a nice darker red color.. So, how do you think that will work for me?? Thanks very much hun! =)
