Awe! I Love Ferret's They Are Awesome Pets! I've Had Four All Together But Two Have Sadly Passed Away Already Including My Sweet Little Skeeter Baby. He Lived To Be Five In A Half But Stomach Cancer Took His Life. :-( He Was The Sweetest Most Loving Ferret I've Ever Had The Opportunity To Know, Truly One Of A Kind. :-)
Awe Don't Cry, I've Done Enough Of That For Everyone. He Is At Peace Now & Will Always Be In My Heart. I Actually Found Out I Was Pregnant A Few Days After He Passed So I Truly Believe That Saying Now That One Life Ends & Another One Begins. A Good Friend Of Mine Said That He's Gonna Call My Son Little Skeeter. :-) I Have 11 More Weeks To Go! I Can't Wait! :-)
Congrats on the baby! My Fiance and I had a Ferret rescue, and since moving states we've been checking into re - opening it here. Miss having the lil guys around!!
Thanks! It's Great That You Do That, Most People Get A Ferret Before They Do Their Research & Find Out They Can't Take Care Of Them Or Just Don't Like Them. So I'm Glad There Are People Like You Out There Taking In The Ones That Their Owner Don't Want Anymore. I Have One Who Was Let Go Outside By His Previous Owners. The Poor Thing Had So Many Ticks On Him & He's Such A Jumpy Little Guy, But He's Healthy & Happy Now. I Got Him For Free At A Local Shelter, But They Normally Don't Take In Ferrets So They Didn't Know What To Do With Him. Me & My Husband Had To Pick All The Ticks Off Him Because The People At The Shelter Were Too Afraid To Even Touch Him. He's A Biter But After What He Went Through It's Completely Understandable.
Just keep showing it lots of love and patience. Play with it often on their terms, but stop once they bite. Remembering the love & patience, not scolding them. Most will come out of the bitting once they realize the threat is gone, and they are finally safe in their "forever home"!!!
Thanks For The Tips. I Let Him Do What He Wants, He Gets Free Range Of My Home During The Day & He Seems To Be Pretty Happy. I Just Have To Be Careful With Him When Kids Are Over, I Always Tell The Kids To Be Careful Because He Does Bite & To Make Sure He Sees Them Before Trying To Pick Him Up Because He Will Bite When He's Startled. Recently I've Noticed His Eyes Look Like He Could Have Cataracts. That Worries Me Because He's Jumpy As It Is & If He's Going Blind He Will Be More Likely To Bite. I Love The Little Guy So Much, He's A Spunky Little Ferret Who Loves To Cuddle & He Follows My Female Ferret Around Like A Little Puppy, It's So Cute To See Ferrets Love Each Other So Much. My Little Scrappy & Stella :-)
Also My Female Stella Is Half Albino & As Soon As I Let Her Out Of The Cage She's On A Mission To Get Into Everything, Sometime She Drives Me Nuts. Yesterday She Knocked A Glass Off My End Table & Broke It. Do You Have Any Tips To Calm Her Down? It Seems Like She's Too Hyper. She Hides Food All Around My Apartment & She Digs Her Food Out Of The Food Bowl In Her Cage, The Bottom Of The Cage Is Full Of Food!
