Description

The listing, 1909 US Indian Head Penny FREE SHIPPING has ended.

This is a 1909 United States Mint INDIAN HEAD PENNY that is totally impossible to find in circulation today. Minted over a HUNDRED YEARS AGO! It has been in my personal collection for quite some time. There is no mint mark on this coin.

It is in good condition for its age of being over a 100 years old, even has a nice shine, but has been in circulation with some tarnish as expected for a coin with this much age. Has not been in circulation the last 35 yrs at least, due to being in my collection. It has not been graded. This coin was the precursor to the Lincoln Head cent we know today.

Another nice coin with MORE TO FOLLOW.

Sorry for the poor pics; the coin is actually nicer than shown.

FREE SHIPPING via 1st Class Mail in the USA. Delivery Confirmation, at your option is $1.75 paid thru PayPal only.

NOTE: *New Terms*

I've experienced some bidders who have claimed non-receipt of the item they won and I shipped. 'Mediatiion' thru Listia results in credits taken back and given to the bidder if the seller cannot provide Delivery Confirmation and the bidder claims the item was never received, I will provide Delivery Confirmation at your expense paid thru PayPal at YOUR OPTION. If you choose not to pay for Delivery Confirmation I will still ship FREE but any claim for non-delivery or loss thru the shipper IS NOT MY RESPONSIBILITY and NO credits will be returned.

-see below terms as provided by Listia-

'Shipping Safety: Paypal is the safest way to collect payment for shipping. We do not recommend asking for cash, checks or money orders. Please securely pack all items to avoid damage and theft during shipping. Secure shipping is your responsibility, so you should always add tracking to packages so you have shipping proof in case of a dispute. Read more about avoiding scams'

Sorry for these changes but in order to protect sellers and bidders LISTIA has now forced me to protect my account from 'scammers'.

NEVER FORGET!

This is why I don't ship for free. Anyone who isn't willing to PayPal me .44 cents to cover shipping is probably a scammer.I've even had people say " I sent you the money in PayPal" but a week later it still isn't there. Sellers beware!

Nice coin by the way, sounds like fun, I'm in! And I fanned you!

Here's my reply to an earlier Listian post on another of my items and what I've received from Listia themselves: Basically about shipping and delivery confirmations and scammers in general:

Eb*y had this same problem in it's early days of inception in the late 90's. I WAS THERE and lived it then also. Also got burnt with some unscrupulous bidders. It's a problem when it involves 3 parties; the bidder, the seller and the shipper. Without a 'proof of delivery' element there can be potential for fraud on both the bidder and seller side and the moderator becomes the judge based on factors of subjectivity (% of positive feedback of bidder and seller, number of seller listings and length as a member (both sides) just to name a few, vs objectivity (proof of delivery for that specific item). As the items value (points) increase the moderator's decision carries much greater impact and with it the greater temptation for the bidder or seller to make a false claim. Unfortunately, there is no way in this society to guarantee honesty. It's a standard the each individual must set for themselves. Mandating that a bidder pay for delivery confirmation minimizes the spirit in which Listia operates so that is why I offer it as an option. An honest bidder need not accept those terms and I have always offered free shipping on my items since my inception with Listia. The option for delivery confirmation is to help (but not stop) potential scammers from making false claims. Unfortunately as a member of Listia and not a paid employee I can't provide a 'sure thing' solution to this enterprise problem. Eb*y realized this was a significant problem also and the result was they bought and now own PayPal and mandate that all payment transactions go thru PayPal where they have much tighter control.

Thanks for reading.

ps...thz for the comment on the coin! It's a nice one!

I think you should also mention this is a KEY DATE for indian head pennies. this is the first year that they went to the Lincoln penny so to have both pennies from this date is a great coin to have. I will be watching this one. GREAT AUCTION!!

Yes, I agree, eb*y BOUGHT and OWNS PayPal now but that's not really well known. It's another way for them to vertically integrate their ability to capture additional fees during all the aspects of the buy/sell transaction.

thx on he fan/will do also.
