I enjoyed it, beat it twice, first as Mario then as Luigi. It's not very difficult, but still very entertaining!

No visible/deep scratches. Just checked today and the disc played perfectly.

Kind of. While the first player plays as Mario, the second player can help indirectly, but does not actually control a character. For example, the second player can freeze and stun enemies or help collect star bits.
