I would start the tomatoes and peppers inside up to 6 weeks before your last frost. I use egg cartons. carrots can be started inside in a pot. all outside planting is suggested when your temps are between 70-73 degrees. so Im not sure when your state gets warm. Im in arizona and its already warm so I start outside now.

when planting the rule is to plant the seed as deep as the seed is big plus itsself. most of these seeds are very tiny. barely sprinkle dirt on them.

the onions seem to like it colder to start. so when ever you can work the dirt.

I grow corn on mounds/rows. their roots tend to loose their dirt and they need a little extra so they dont surface.
