If I understand this right these are smaller than your other lot. these are more for lace type crochet and smaller thread where the others are for bigger things like wash clothes, hats, squares and other bigger thread projects. as for the size markings I have seen them marked both ways on the same hook. hope this helps and if I am wrong someone will correct me. I like to learn new things as well.
