Description

The listing, Confederate Rose (Hibiscus mutabilis) Seeds has ended.

The Confederate rose was at one time very common in the area of the Confederate States of America, which is how its common name was derived. Confederate roses tend to be shrubby or treelike in Zones 9 and 10, though it behaves more like a perennial further north. Flowers can be double or single and are 4 to 6 inches in diameter. These plants have a very fast growth rate, when it does not freeze, the Confederate rose can reach heights of 15 to 18 feet with a woody trunk. However a much bushier, 5 or 6 feet plant is more typical and provides more flowering.
** This auction is for 20 seeds**

The plant/tree the seeds came from is at least 20 feet tall and 15 feet wide, and got that big in about 5 years! It probably suffered a little bit due to all of this freezing weather, but it needed pruning, and I just didn't have the heart to do it. Thanks for bidding!
