Do you need WiFi for this to work in your car? I don't know how it downloads the maps around me.

Hello. No WiFi is needed for this to work at all. Global Positioning System satellites transmit signals to the equipment (your GPS) on the ground. They synchronize to receive those signals. Each GPS has a receiver inside that helps it to get locations. In order to download maps you would need a computer, your GPS, a USB cord that is included, and then go to the TomTom website. It lists instructions to help you with your download. Once that's done then you're ready to travel. Hope that helps and if you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask.

Are you sure? I just checked in TomTom website and that specific model includes only US and Canada maps.

Very sure. You are correct that it's not listed on the site. I saw the same thing on there so I called Customer Service to verify. The number for TomTom customer service is 866-486-6866 just in case you want to verify. Just tell the representative which type of GPS. They will ask for your first and last name and then you can ask them questions.

Thank you for asking. I just got off the phone with a representative from TomTom that indicated the TomTom 130-S DOES include a map of Puerto Rico! Very good question. : )

This model has the speed you are traveling. If you go over the posted speed limit the device indicates it by a series of beeps to notify the driver. Thank you for asking.
