Against a backdrop of spectacular Arizona desert landscapes, two cowboys engage in a bitter feud over the upbringing of an orphaned baby found in an abandoned emigrant's camp. Cash (William Faarnum) and Jeff (J. Farrell macDonald) both want to raise the child, but Cash Calms it as his own. The animorsity continues as the former friends, who own adjacent ranches, clash over cattle, water, and mining rights. Meanwhile, the foundling, named Bill by his "father", has grown into a handsome young man (Williams Boyd) who desperately wants the feud to end. Jeff's own child, Mary Ellen (Helen Twelvetrees), has also grown into a beautiful young woman.
