U.S.S. STORMES DD-780 GENERAL INFO
USS STORMES was an ALLEN M. SUMNER - class destroyer and the first ship in the Navy to bear the name. Decommissioned on December 5, 1970, the STORMES was sold to Iran in February 1972. After modifications at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, Philadelphia, Penn., she was commissioned as PALANG (DDG 9) and served in Iran's navy until about 1994.
