No, pumpkins are annuals, you will need to plant again next year. I think you should be ok with a zone 5, we are on the 5/6 border and they grow nicely. We do start them indoors and then move out side after our first frost just to get the max in the growing season.
f&w I've never grown pumpkins but I hear that its hard to get them to grow because they can get rotten from sitting on the ground when growing, what do you do to when growing so that is doesn't happen? I'd like to bid but would like to know some info....also I'm in florida but its very cold this year so is zone 9 ideal for these pumpkins? thanks for your time Laura B.
i have found if the ground is wet for awhile they can get a little soft or water logged. Once the pumpkin gets to a smaller size i prop them up off the ground with the foam pool noodles. I think you should be ok in FL I'm in central PA (AKA the Polar Vortex area) and they grow no problem.
