Description

The listing, Zombie Apocalypse ✽ HEIRLOOM SUSTAINABLE SEED PACKAGE ✽ Tiered Auction ✽ Organic has ended.

Hopefully there will never be a zombie apocalypse, but would you know what to do if there was? Could you grow your own food and save seed for future crops? Well, the time to practice is NOW. All of these seeds are perfect for the beginner to grow out, harvest, and learn to practice saving seeds just in case there is ever a need. This is a tiered auction and will include the following:

499+ cherry tomato, leaf lettuce, dill
999+ paste tomato, hot pepper, flax
1499+ slicing tomato, cucumber, basil
1999+ okra, bell pepper, chives
2499+ radish, zucchini, melon
2999+ beans, squash, corn
3499+ bonus seeds for every 500 points

I have been asked numerous times to put a seed package together. Well, I finally did it. These have been grown in my Midwest climate, but should be fine for any garden zones 4- 9. All heirlooms will be my choice, but will be marked. Pictures show some of the variety that will be included.

Season: Early to Late-Season
Type: Open-Pollinated Heirloom

This Auction: You will be receiving packets of seeds from my garden. Each will range from around 10 to 20 seeds. They will be sent First Class mail for FREE in the United States. I am happy to say that my seeds tested 99-100% germination within 2 weeks at a temp of 65°F in the spring. Excellent for beginners!

Each seed has their own growing & harvesting requirements. You are welcome to follow me on Facebook for growing & harvesting instructions.

Yep, I did say more free seeds for every 500 points. I know I have more than I can possibly plant this year, so I'll gladly share. :)

I agree. I just wish the flavor had as big of an impact as the look of them. For an heirloom tomato, I am surprised at their lack of typical heirloom tomato zingy flavor. Maybe some prefer that though, a more "mellow" tomato taste. They are so productive though, so I will forgive them. LOL

Well, I just want to thank you all. This auction is going so well. We've surpassed every tier of the auction. How fun! I will need to pinch a few seeds from all my own personal stash seeds to share with the winner as well. I know I'll be adding some onions, broccoli, more melons, tomatoes, peppers, herbs, & I'll see what else I can rustle up.

Just curious... if these were not planted this year, how long would they keep, or would they even keep, and how would they need to be kept in order to save them? Thanks! I just love all of your heirloom tomatoes!

Nice question. The cucumbers will last the longest, sometime up to 7 years, lettuce & radish about 5 years, tomatoes, melon & squash about 4 years, peppers & beans about 3 years, corn 2, and they say chives are only 1 year though I have planted them 3 years later with fine results. Seeds should be stored in a dark, cool, dry place. The Rubbermaid shoe boxes work well. Each year the germination rate will go down if they are not used, sometimes 5% to even 15-20% 3 or 4 years down the road. I keep all my seeds marked with the year they are intended to grow, then use all my oldest first. I hope that helped. :)
