Made in japan..... Hand painted, can see the paint imperfections and I do believe it's also hand made due to the imperfections in the dish itself bottom of cup is bumpy but smooth and the plate isn't perfectly round ..... I was told that it came from Japan during the war (I don't know how true this is but that's what I was told) i do how ever know for a fact that it's been in my family for 35 years....there are no chips in it at all! I've ran my fingers all over it other than the imperfect a of the glass itself on the bottom of cup I haven't found any and the imperfections are smooth like they have been sealed over....... This does come from a home of dogs, cats, piggies, turtles, fish, smokers and the occasional hippie sleeping on our floor so if your allergic to any of the said above please don't bid!
