Paranormal romance series. warriors known as the Dark Hunters. Each was offered revenge and immortality by the masochistic Artemis in return for eternal service in her personal army of daimon hunters. With all the trappings of a classic vampire plus the bonus of a conscience, Kenyon's Dark Hunters are reminiscent of Buffy icons Angel and Spike (after he begged for his soul, of course). Each novel features both new and familiar characters facing a host of enemies
LOVE the Sherrilyn Kenyon books so much that I have a tattoo of the Dark Hunter bow on my arm, haha. MelissaHunter2's explanation is a good one, but still does not do the series justice. Kenyon is such a fantastic writer, and publishes new books in this series so often, it's almost like the world she's created is real. There is a lot of tie-in to Greek Mythology (as Melissa mentioned, though I would describe Artemis as more sadistic than masochistic), and while the characters (both the good guys and the bad guys) do share a lot of characteristics with vampires, they don't get referred to as such in the books, as they are also fairly different. I have Retribution, but I've been trying to get the Nick Chronicle books, so F&W! :) Great auction!
