i believe so. my private hobby is rocks and gems. . and i try to learn more each year i visit the tucson gemshow. to me it looks like genuine amethyst on genuine crystal. i picked it up at an estate sale . . so i speculate it is at least 30 yrs old from it's looks but could be way older. . .

Is the crystal white or clear?

neither, it is mostly clear, but obviously when i took the picture (which doesnt do it justice) enough light reflected so tat makes it look as white... but assure you it is more clear than not! :) hope that helps...
