Love in a Mist / Love in the mist (Nigella damascena) is a beautiful annual flower with a tangle of ferny, fennel like foliage that form a mist around the flowers. Nigella flowers start off as interesting puffs, open into rich toned, straw-flower like blossoms and change into equally attractive seed pods. The seed pods (picture number 4) can be dried for flower arrangements and you can also dry them out for the seeds for the following year but if you don't they will fall to the ground and come back the next year on their own.

I live in zone 5 (Chicago Illinois). These do well from California to the mid west to New York. A very easy plant to grow that comes back year after year!
