Description

The listing, Hand-dyed Wool Yarn has ended.

This is a whole skein of handdyed by me with koolaid. No, its not sticky, but it smells like a fruit basket. Colors are dark red, purple, pinky, and white.
This is one of a kind (like most handdyed creation) The yarn is very nice to work with, however, I don't DO pink.
I will sell more of these if this sells well.

but a lighter sports weight then I am used to - yarn itself is wool from the 80s that I have been stashing for a while. I just colored it last week.

Hi :) yes and I am glad that people are interested in knitted items on here it's a great site... And you really use kool aid ? If you don't mind my asking how did you come up with the idea?

Have you ever visited Ralverly? Its an online yarn community. I have always been interested in dying my own yarn and I found on there that kool-aid is a great way to do it. Its really quite amazing, the yarn pretty much just sucks the color up from the water, you start off with blood red water and white yarn, and end up with blood red yarn and clear water.

Oh, side note about the yardage, I think its more like 250-280, I found the orginal skein wrap (which I thought I threw out..) and it claims that there are 300 yards, alas, some of the yarn got eaten by the tangle monster.

Food coloring also works great for dying wool.

Thank you for the suggestion, I just got some blues and greens for another kool-aid adventure, theres something thats more thrill seeking when dying with a kiddie beverage compared to just plain ol' food dye.

you can also use them in conjunction for spendid color modulation. I have used the spice turmeric to get a deep yellow. It'll dye almost anything, not just wool. weird stuff.

I love the idea of dying wool with something as volatile as Koolaid. Thanks for listing, I'll watch for more. Fanned ya!
