I totally agree. We bought this when we lived out in the country, but have since moved to the suburbs, where we have to be on the lookout for cars, people, other dogs, etc.

This one may not be good for a strong dog. The cord is fairly thin, and I personally don't like retractable leashes for dogs that pull, unless used for training purposes.

Does the leash still retract and hold and release. Is it all in working order?

Yes, the thin black cord part retracts all the way to the flat red part of the leash; this is how it was designed. There is also a button to lock the leash at one length. Just push it down and forward (same to release) - it may take a few tries to get the hang of it, but it works just as well as when it was purchased. I am only getting rid of it because I have no use for a retractable leash at this time.

aliciabucha, have you tried one of those paracord leashes? I got one from a bid and it seems very durable

jkwalter, I forgot to add that there is a scratch on the rubber grip of the handle, but it does not affect the function of the leash. hope this helps. Thank you for bidding!
