OK an older tv that uses a antenna needs a converter box to receive local channels with this tv it does not need the converter box to view channels

Dennis0069: The description says that it receives ATSC & NTSC. The NTSC is the old analog format for TV's. NTSC is no longer used to transmit TV over the air using an antenna. I know of a few cable systems that still use NTSC but they are changing over to the new ATSC. ATSC is the new digital TV format. If you had an old TV that wasn't connected to cable, you had to buy a converter to connect to your old TV to watch TV with an antenna. The number of channels you get depends on your distance to the TV station broadcast antenna. In a major city, you can get around 20 channels like ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CW, PBS.
