This landscape at a barren city park needed a kick in the butt. A tree and a bench with burnt late summer grass just wasn't gonna cut it. I juiced it up a bit with extreme coloring.This is one of my dry media artworks. They are sometimes called "paintings" or "drawings", but the word "Pastel" is the only correct word. As a noun or verb.
Dry pastel (powdered pigment crayons) is my medium of choice. Unlike many traditional practitioners, I don't go for the delicate lightness of the smudgy artform. I love the bright, vibrant colors to capture the moment with a sense of electricity.
