Questions & Comments
do you know anything else about it? is it hand painted, where did u find it?
i believe it is hand painted (oil) from yrs of condensation it looks as if the paint has collected in tiny spots. but you can still see the bright coloring of the people. the top dome is plastic with deep edging with gold paint. the bottom is heavy black plastic. i got it from an estate sale so i dont have any paper work with it.. so i dont know more!!
looks Edwardian period.... any idea about (rough estimate of how old it is? do you have any paperwork with it? Wonderful piece if this is Edwardian period and worth a lot more than you paid!!! just trying to figure out how many credits I want to bid.
sorry didn't read you comment above.... This is still a really nice piece and worth doing research over. I would definitely look into it. If I win this I would do some research it there any writing on it that would help figure out when this piece is from?
hi, i am told anything 50 yrs or older is an antique , but this is as very beautiful vintage piece of jewelry/compact box awesome looking for it's age i seen one of these about 25 yrs ago and it sold very high.
Just for general info....I was watching Antique Roadshow a few years back, and they were addressing the "antique" classification deal. According to them, when something is 20 years old it becomes VINTAGE, and when it hits 70, then it's classified as a true ANTIQUE. They also said that cars are a little different. When the car is 20 years old it becomes vintage, or CLASSIC...and when it hits 50, it then becomes a legitimate antique. These guys are supposedly experts....of course you must remember that THEY are the ones who says they're experts. Ha! Anyway...I just thought I'd pass that on....for what it's worth.
