No, I just looked it up. The IPad 4 is the fourth generation and what I have. The IPad Air is thinner and smaller in width.
I think the Air would fit but you would lose some of the screen because the Air's screen doesn't have the same sides the regular IPad's do.

8" would probably be good but I don't want to second guess if it would work with your device or not since it is designed for the IPad.
