The listing, Used U.S. Stamp #4350 42¢ Bette Davis has ended.
On September 18, 2008, at Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts, the Postal Service™ issued a 42–cent Bette Davis commemorative stamp, designed by Richard Sheaff of Scottsdale, Arizona. With the issuance of this 14th stamp in the Legends of Hollywood series, artist Michael J. Deas of New Orleans, Louisiana, based his painting for the stamp on a black and white still of Bette Davis made during the filming of “All About Eve” (1950), in which Davis brilliantly portrayed aging Broadway star Margo Channing.
Film diva Bette Davis becomes the 14th inductee into the Legends of Hollywood series on the 100th anniversary of the year of her birth. A consummate actress with a magnetic screen presence, Davis (1908-1989) played a wide variety of powerful and complex roles during her six-decade career. Her riveting performances, acclaimed by critics and fans alike, resulted in 10 Academy Award nominations for best actress; she won twice for her starring roles in Dangerous (1935) and Jezebel (1938).
The stamp pictured is the exact stamp you will receive. Add this attractive commemorative issue to your collection! It is in fine used condition with a very light cancel and I have removed all traces of adhesive from the back. It takes about 5 minutes to do this (gently and carefully) so I only do it for the nicer issues which have non-water soluble adhesives. If you think about it...it would take me an hour just to work on 12 stamps. But the result is a very nice clean stamp. Free shipping worldwide!
