Is this a good series? Would it be appropriate for a 13 year old who reads at the college level and goes through 2-3 books in a week? Or is it too mature?

It's too mature some pretty explicit parts not many but there some strong adult content would recommend reading first before and then judge for yourself,these are hard to follow and are different than wizard of Oz are way darker
