Description

The listing, Pirate Pearl Pepper ~Perhaps~ has ended.

Seeds were collected from my plants of MATURE RIPENED TO RED pods. 3rd pic.

Black Pearl is a hybrid. But I have been able to grow it relatively true from seeds given to me from a mature pepper plant. Be aware that growing it from my seed means it is no longer truly a "Black Pearl". It is STILL a beautiful plant.

Image 2 is a cutting from my own plant that was grown from seed. See the lovely ornamental contrast? Foliage seems to grow darker w/ more sun! Fruit can be eaten. They are small & hot!

Information below is regarding the true "Black Pearl" chili.

New Ornamental Pepper Wins Prestigious Award

1 look at 'Black Pearl' & it is easy to see why it won this award. Compact, upright plants bear distinctive semi-glossy, deep purple to black leaves, complemented w/ scores of shiny round black-purple "pearls" of fruit that mature to bright red. 'Black Pearl' performs well as either a bedding or pot plant. It offers a vibrant accent to home gardens throughout the summer and fall seasons.

Its foliage, color & low care will attract many gardeners and "non-gardeners" to 'Black Pearl.' It performs exceptionally well in containers & deserves to be featured as the centerpiece.

P.S. BEWARE OF ROSE SEEDS! There's a reason why we don't see rose seeds sold in big garden centers. More info here; http://goo.gl/0UJZry
Also beware of home collected seeds from hybrid plants. They're no longer the same variety. Ask questions. Research >reliable< sources. Learn to succeed in your gardening efforts!

Thirdly, a GREEN bell pepper is an UNRIPE bell pepper & isn't likely to provide VIABLE seeds. There are very few varieties that produce bell peppers that ripen to green. Same for GREEN Jalapeno & most other pepper varieties. It only take minutes to check the variety & discover the color of the RIPE pepper.

Apple seeds? Mercy! Don't get me started!

I have added 2 more pictures of my plant's foliage. It is growing in a sheltered and shaded area in front of my garden shed away from my heirloom peppers. It over wintered there and seems to be leafing out more now that the weather is growing warmer here.

The foliage is not silver. They turn from green to black with exposure to sunlight.
