The listing, **RARE and EXTINCT IN THE WILD** Be the ENVY of the neighborhood!! The Banana Lotus :) has ended.

This auction is for 5 seeds!
No GIN on this one :) I want everyone to get a chance. If the bidding hits 20,000 I will make it 10 seeds. 40,000, 25 seeds. These are COLD STORED ALREADY! They are in the perfect soil they need to germinate :) These are extremely rare and expensive. They are worshipped by the buddhist monks in China. They have a million uses. They can be eaten, make into weave material, pig fodder, and soil erosion control. The Monks protect this plants and see them as sacred. Really just an amazing plant. They are extinct in the wild and their is a massive movement to help repopulate them :)

If bidding breaks 20k I will add a gift set for the winner.
It will be a variety of other seeds and cosmetics. All brand new :)

Musella Lasiocarpa originates from South Yunnan Province of China where it grows quite high up in the mountains and as a result of it's native environment, it is well suited for colder climates.

Musella Lasiocarpa is really known for the beautiful golden yellow 'lotus' flower it produces once it has reached it's full height of around 4-5ft tall. If you're fortunate enough to get it to flower, it will produce a wonderful display that lasts for as much as 6 months!

Once the flower has gone the plant will die, but don't worry! by that time, it will have produced new 'pups' or offshoots which will become your new banana plant.

Musella Lasiocarpa are generally root hardy and if left unprotected, will shoot again the following spring, often producing several new banana plants.

I'm always wary of quoting exact temperature resistance figures as so many factors can play a part in a plants hardiness BUT, they can reportedly survive temperatures of -12C!

how long is the germination process and have you grown one from seed?

Well it can take 6 weeks to 3 months. With a heat mat usually around 6 weeks. These are NOT easy to germinate. They are not beginners seeds. They need love lol. The best luck I have ever had was planting them in the fall. Then they get cold and frozen all winter. In the spring they sprout :) If you are indoors cold store them for up to 8 weeks. The ones I am auctioning have been cold stored now 7 weeks. Then put them in a moist warm enviroment. I use a heat mat.

Do you have any suggested web sites or books to help with growing this? Also, how long can the seeds be cold stored?
