Texas redbud is a native fast-growing decorative tree. It's often pruned to shrub size, but can grow to 25'. It's the first tree to start blooming in the early spring and tough enough to take drought after established.The seeds are taken from a tree in the front of my new house, so I haven't seen it bloom.While they come in several colors, this stock photo is the most common one.
Redbuds are called understory trees and are often planted with oaks.
