Description

The listing, VINTAGE FIGURINES has ended.

These are two nice figurines with a lot of detailed craftsmanship I'm not sure what they are made of but they are not wood and they are not metal but they feel a little heavy for their size they are a little over 4 inches tall they look like they are from the old country they make a nice couple
Questions & Comments

I have looked them over pretty good haven't been able to see any markings and there isn't anything on the bottom maybe it's just me but I have been fascinated by these two figurines I took a magnifying glass and I couldn't believe the detail in their eyes he actually has one eye open and looks like he is squinting with the other one

I think maybe they're made out of a hard plaster or mortar I really don't know but they are a little bit heavy thanks for commenting on them

I have a set similar to these. I have NO idea what mine are made of either!! Amazing detail on mine too. Mine were my great~great~great grandmothers. She had her auntie send them from Prussia after she settled in America.
I'd LOVE any additional information any fellow LISTIANS may have !!!

If they were made of wood, they would be quite valuable. They're replicas of sculptor Gaston Turcotte 'old man, old lady' series. Gaston is a Canadian folk artist. If they were wood, they would be worth approx. $200 US. If they are resin, they're worth approx. $15 US depending on the demand. Good auction.

Double check the material. They could still be made of wood. Kids used to take his early works and paint them. Over the years with people touching small pieces hand oils, dusting polishes would make the wood feel almost like a plastic.
