The top screen works in certain positions but doesnt if moved to other positions

What exactly does the hinge being damaged effect as far as use goes? Does it not stay open?

it means the hinge is broken and it needs repair... as i said, it affects the screen and it plays in certain positions but not in others... not sure how else to describe it.. it opens and closes fine and stays open but does not have the normal tension on it that you can adjust the positions.
