The listing, Antique Stone & Hammered Copper Pendant ~Unknown Stone! Would Appreciate Info!~ has ended.

Hello everyone! I am back! Are you ready for a whole new set of fabulous auctions? I sure hope so!

Let's Begin:
This is an auction for one of the most beautiful pendants I have ever come across! The setting and clasp are fashioned from what looks like a hammered copper! I am not a professional but just from examining the metal I am 99.9% positive it is copper, it isn't painted or coated to be the color that it is. There is some discoloration on the back, but for copper it appears normal. The front has a beautiful, antique feel to it <3 The stone is a deep reddish purple with billions of little sparkles! I tried my best to capture them and am at a loss for what the stone could possibly be!
I always:
*Provide 100% amazing customer service
*Respond to comments
*Fan back when fanned
*Ship all of my auctions in premium bubble wrap mailers
*Package all of my auctions in gift bags with a business card <3
*Offer free shipping within the US

I do not:
X Offer GIN on any of my auctions unless specified, all of my auctions are found at second hand shops so odds are I will never come across another.
X Ship outside the US
X Tolerate rude comments or users
X Guarantee the quality of metals unless they are stamped, I describe what I can and am as honest about the item as I can be
X Lower number of days till end of auction
X Ship to unverified users (do not e-mail me your address

~~~Thank you for taking a peek! Have a super wonderful & snowy winter day~~~~~
It looks purple, is it? I would guess purple aventurine, IF it's purple. Turquoise also comes in purple, most people don't know that. I am a gem hound... this is very pretty, F&W
It is a reddish purple, another user had mentioned Indian Ruby. So far it is the closest thing I have found to what I am currently holding in my hand ^^: hope that helps, not sure if there are similar stones to an Indian Ruby. I wish you the very best of luck in winning if you decide to bid. I really want this to find a home in a loving collectors hands <3
The flat back is typical of Native American work, too.
Ignoring the color and just looking at the stone I would honestly say that this is glass. The back is really flat. I see no inclusions (inclusions are found in genuine gemstones). The speckles would probably be air bubbles which means that it is glass. It is hard to tell without a loop but if you can see the bubbles without a loop than that is a tell tell sign that it isn't genuine. I collect gemstones and I have never seen a genuine gemstone look like that. I have had a star sapphire and it didn't have bubbles/sparkles, rubies are normally heavily included but inclusions don't look like spots they look more like small breaks and cracks/nicks, it's almost too purple for a Garnet plus the bubbles, it is definitely not an Amethyst of any kind, ummm hope this helps. It looks pretty though. A safe rule to go by though is that glass has bubbles and genuine gemstones have inclusions. It almost looks like glass with sparkles. Would you say those are sparkles? It could be a synthetic drusy quartz. I have never seen sparkly turquoise ever. Hope this helps.
Thank you so much, upon further examination you can definitely see small cracks,fractures, veins or whatever they are called under the surface. I am not sure If I am going to be able to explain this right but bare with me. As I am looking at it under bright light, it looks like the center of the stone is a shade lighter and the stone darkens in areas closer to the edges. There are a bunch of small veins, spidering out to the edges of the stone from the center. I am not sure if I mentioned the presence of bubbles, but as I am looking there are definitely no bubbles. I have wiki'd several pages of stones suggested in the comments and nothing has really fit what I am holding in my hand. I am fairly certain it is not glass, the veins and fractures in the stone are very organic and not patterned at all. I have a blood ruby ring that my grandmother gave me with similar veins under the surface. The color is totally different but the patterns are similar in how the occur. I am absolutely fascinated with this pendant now thanks to all of the inquisitive comments I am getting. I sincerely hope whoever wins this, will follow up and let me know what it is <3
How big? length/width? TY :)
Feb 27th, 2014 at 10:14:46 PM PST by
Original
The width of the entire pendant is an inch, the stone a half inch. The length is an inch and a half, the stone itself is an inch and a quarter. I hope this helps <3.
Goldstone is a type of glittering glass made in a low-oxygen reducing atmosphere. The finished product can take a smooth polish and be carved into beads, figurines, or other artifacts suitable for semiprecious stone, and in fact goldstone is often mistaken for or misrepresented as a natural material. PLEASE visit: Wikipedia for the article on Goldstone......depending on the composition of chemicals used in the process of making goldstone- is what determines the color one ends up with..........just trying to help=)
I just looked up the wikipedia article for goldstone, it was really helpful! Thank you so much. Just looking at the stone, and observing it (I am no professional) I don't think it is actually goldstone. In all of the pictures I had found of goldstone, the sparkles are actually gold in color. The stone I have, appears to have small fractures and veins inside of it. The sparkles are also the same color as the stone and almost silvery in color. I had maybe thought it might be Druzy Quartz as well, but from pictures I have seen I don't think it is that either. I am 99.9% sure it is stone and not glass, the veins look very organic and natural in color and pattern. I really do hope that whoever wins this follows up with me and lets me know what this is! I am on the edge of my seat!
When I first found it I had thought it may be druzy just judging off other Lisitian's items that I had seen. Fascinating ^_^
Very pretty! Sugalite? (Native Americans have made both copper and Sugalite jewelery. I know it's not the typical Native American jewelry ,but I'm guessing in Victorian times they might have made some pieces like this. ). I think it's Sugalite (Google photos of Sugalite)
I just googled Indian Ruby and found a ring with an almost DEAD RINGER for the patterns in the stone and the little sparkles I keep trying to describe! Oh my goodness! this is exhilarating! I hope whoever wins this little treasure strikes gold <3
If it was me I would take it to the closest either antique store or museum or maybe even a jewelry store. If I had it here I could tell you more about it but the photos can be rather deceiving in looks. I was a jeweler for many years. I so want to know what it is myself. You may even have something that is worth a bunch of money! You never know until you find out! Anyone as you can see already about so many commenters...you do have a piece that is wanted by many. Find out if I was you asap!
Happy Day :)
From all the comments I have read, I would not even consider them you have people trying to tell you what it is and they cannot even see what it truly looks like. That is making you rather confused. Like I said either go to a museum or a jeweler which ever or even both...before the bidding ends...it may be something you won't want to get rid of. If it was a ruby at that size it is worth a whole lot of money and not worth credits in my personal opinion.
And then again...it does not look like glass the high polished front and the very dull back tells you that. Both would be shiny. Also looking at just how perfect it is shaped and the backs being very flat and dull honestly it is beautiful but may be acrylic. You won't know until you have it checked out.
If you are going to speak like you may be in the jewelry business as I have been then you would know that what you look thru with one eye is not a loop and in crochet but a loupe just an FYI is all LoL I wonder what it is going to turn out to be...all of us want to know now!
Glass and stone will be cold, while plastic isn't. It would be highly unusual for a ruby to be mounted in copper, but still anything is possible.
Appears to me like either a large garnet, or ruby. I agree, also some star sapphires look like this. Very nice!
Someone suggested an Indian Ruby, and it is the closest thing that I have found so far in reference to the internal patterns of veins. Thank you so much for the comments :D I really hope whoever wins, wins the JACKPOT!
Amethyst is more purple like this. It could be glass & they put something to make it look real like foil or something.
It could be a quartz..
A Ruby this size--take it off & have appraised. as it might be worth a lot! You never know.
It looks like a Garnet or a Ruby, But Mel found one and thought it was a rock and gave it to a friend of ours and it turned out to be this 600.00 stone! So I will call and ask her what the name of it is.
WOW! I originally thought it was a ruby, but a garnet would make sense too! Please let me know as soon as you find out ^_^
