ABOUT TOPPS BUYBACKS:
This is a Topps Buyback card. Topps purchased thousands of their own original cards from the secondary market and repackaged them into new card packs where they would appear as inserts (as well as some redemptions and online prizes). The Buyback Cards were stamped with gold foil to indicate that they had been repurchased and redistributed by Topps in the promotion. While this promotion was popular with some and not popular with others, Topps Buybacks seem to maintain a good value, and in many cases 2-3 times the value of the card without the Buyback stamp.
This card, alike many Buybacks, is not mint but is still in the condition it was pulled as a promotion. Overall, still nice condition version of this rookie card; check out the pictures.

ABOUT EARL WILSON:
A rookie pitcher with the Red Sox in 1959, Wilson played 11 years in the majors, including 7 with Boston. He collected MVP votes in 1966 (18 wins) and again in 1967 (22 wins) en route to 121 career wins, including 13 shutouts. He won a World Series ring with the Detroit Tigers in 1968, and pitched a no-hitter for Boston against the L.A. Angels on June 26, 1962.
