Description

The listing, **Coin Necklace** has ended.

Ok I know absolutely nothing about this necklace except that the person that gave it to me said it was real but it has NO markings that states it is. I took the best pics I could & they wont get any better lol I tried everything!! The front has a womans head in the center & stars going around it. The back says The United States of America around the rim, a big #1 with the word Dollar under it and 1962 under that.and some kind of floral/leaf design around the center. The coin is about the size of a dime. The necklace looks gold toned to me but the coin looks real but like I said I have no idea lol eather way its a very nice peice and would be good for a collecter & PLEASE if u know anything about this do share and if the winner finds anything about it I would love to know even if I amgettin rid of it.
GOOD LUCK & HAPPY BIDDING :))

if it is and it seems like a real 1 dollar gold piece their are 31 grams of gold to an ounce this would be worth pretty good money. but i believe the coin value is worth more than the gold. ! owell coffee time

Yes, I agree it is beautiful, I meant no offense, after all we want it as jewelry, not as a coin for a coin collection, there loss not ours!

Could be the reason the necklace don't have any markings on it because somebody could have made it themself. For all we know it could be the only coin like it left and it wouldn't matter if it had a hole in it. Ya know! Wishful thinking maybe!

What did the coin look like before it was cleaned? Was it green at all, or just grimey?
Mar 22nd, 2011 at 3:35:15 PM PDT by
Original
It was not green at all honestly it looked about as good as it does now, cleaning it just added a little shine I guess lol

Even if it was real it's got a hole in it and it's been cleaned, so people should really just treat it as a nice necklace. The $300 price I gave was a for a collectors quality coin, not this. I still think this is really nice and hope I can win it. Need more credits.

How thick is the coin? Like compared to a dime, penny, or nickel?

dime

Yes, the hole in the coin does diminish it's numismatic value, the collectors value as an old coin. It's still nice though.

I'm not sure ladies, but, I think if the coin has a hole in it, it doesn't matter how old it is, it's value is diminished. I can't be positive about that....but, still and all it's a beautiful coin to own....

Thanks hun and who knows maybe u still will! Think possitive :))

The coin is a Liberty Head gold dollar design. These were minted between 1849 and 1889. If it's a real 1862 one it could be worth over $300. If it's a replica, it's worth about $5. If the date says 1962 it's definitely a replica. If it says 1862 it could be real OR a replica. Even if it is real, it looks cleaned. A nice necklace regardless.

OMG!!!!!! lol I think im going to be sick lol!!! IT DOES SAY 1862 are u kidding me? I could be giving away $300 dollars LOL dangit!!!! & I cant stop this auction lol o-well It should go 2 someone who will appreciate it enough to research it anyway I guess <like u maybe> thanks so much for the info!! Oh and I had just cleaned it myself b4 the pics & my stepmom gave it 2 me a while back and said it was real and I think she got it from a flea market or something like that... WoW lol I cant stop laughing lol

Are you sure it says 1962 and not 1862?
