Description

The listing, HP DV5 Laptop! - 4GB of Memory, 250GB of Space, Finger Print Reader, & Built-in Webcam, LOOK HERE!! has ended.

Here I have a HP DV5 laptop. This computer, I believe, is a 2007 model.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

First you should know it's not in PERFECT condition. The mouse pad is not functioning but you can hook up a wired or wireless mouse and it works just fine! There is one included in this auction so you do not have to worry about that.

It also has a bit of an overheating problem. I ran into issues while I was trying to factory reset this for you wonderful listans just today! The computer decided to shut off on me right towards the end and so now it needs to be done all over again. You can do this by turning on the computer and hitting the F11 key. This will automatically bring up the restore settings and you can set it up however you'd like from there.

I do not guarantee that it will work flawlessly for you, since it would not for me.

There is a cooling fan included in this auction and most of the time as long as you have that set up it doesn't give you any problems. Like I said though, no guarantees.

There is also a BRAND NEW battery and charger included in this lot. They were purchased only a few months ago.

My friend was using this while he was staying with us the past couple of months and up until today when I ran into problems with the restore it has been working fine! This is probably an easy fix, but I don't have the patience for it so it's my loss, your gain!

So onto the good news. This coputer has a built in FINGER PRINT READER. Yes, you heard me right :) Simply set up your account for your computer and swipe your finger on the reader to access several different areas of the computer, even logging in. It is a very cool function that you are sure to adore! Especially those of you who are looking for better privacy options on your laptop.

Overall this is a VERY nice computer. The rest of the specs are posted in the comments section of this listing. Look there to find the information that is not here, and if you have any questions..ASK!

Sounds like your fan is messing up..not a huge expensive thing to fix..probably got messed up trying to run with yucky stuff in it and it was burning up the fan motor..once that is fixed it should purr like a kitten..lol

Did you ever have it looked at to see what the xause of the over heating may be?
Mar 18th, 2011 at 12:28:48 PM PDT by

Yeah, that's when I had it cleaned.. It was pretty yuck on the inside and so they thought that might have been the problem. It got totally detailed and worked fine for quite some time after that, so we assumed that was the problem but now it seems to be acting up again and I'm not sure what's causing it. I don't think it would be anything to terribly crazy though.

Also my husband wanted me to ask is the internal fan working?

I honestly could not tell you. :/ I know I had it taken apart and cleaned on the inside a few months ago and nothing was said about it not working, so I would assume so but I can't say for sure. I'm not very Tech Savvy lol

The HP Pavilion Dv5 series is an entertainment laptop based on an AMD motherboard. The Pavilion has a focus on multimedia entertainment with an ATI integrated graphics card, along with a HDMI output port which allows you to connect the Dv5 to a discrete monitor.

Processor
The HP Pavilion Dv5 uses an AMD-based processor. The specific processor model is the AMD Turion X2, Ultra ZM-80 Dual-Core Mobile Processor. This processor is clocked at 2.1 GHz in speed, and two processing cores allows your computer to take advantage of multi-threaded applications and processes.

Memory
The HP Dv5 Pavilion comes equipped with 4G of DDR2 memory. However, the system board itself supports up to 8G of DDR2 memory. The only limitation with that memory figure is whether you are using a 64-bit operating system on the Pavilion. A 32-bit operating system is only going to allow you to access either 3G or 4G of RAM.

Graphics
The Pavilion Dv5 graphics card is an on-board ATI model, specifically the ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics RS780M. This on-board card shares its memory with the computer, but is capable of reaching up to 1918 megabytes of graphical memory power. The chip supports Shader 4.0 and Microsoft DirectX 10.

Ports
You can add many peripherals and accessories to the HP Pavilion Dv5 with a variety of interface ports. They include HDMI, VGA, USB, eSATA, a PC card slot, a memory card reader slot, on-board LAN and your sound card input/output ports. The HP provides just about every port that you could want on a laptop.

Drives
The hard drive included with this laptop computer has a 250GB capacity and 5400 rpm speed. The HP also has a Lightscribe 8X DVD burner included. Lightscribe drives allow you to burn designs directly onto the disk label, instead of printing off a separately applied label.

and do you have an estimated fixing price?
Mar 17th, 2011 at 5:30:02 PM PDT by
Original
I have no idea on a fixing price. You would have to take it in to a shop unless you already know how to work with computers. It's probably nothing major so I can't imagine it would cost to much.
