Issued on October 19, 1931, this 2-cent stamp marked the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Yorktown (1781). The battle followed the victory at Yorktown at which General Washington received the sword of surrender from British General Cornwallis. Black within a red frame, the stamp pictures Washington flanked by Count DE Rochambeau and Count DE Grasse, leaders of the French forces that aided in the American victory.Great addition to any collection.
