I have just put brand new batteries so thie leapster will be ready to play. I have doyble checked everything and it works great. Comes with a spongebob game ages 4/8. The usb and set up DVD is included for game download and leapster set up.
You will need to go to leapster.com once you plug in to computer to set up. I have it set up but this is to personalize the leapster.

Can you plug it into a playstaion 3 , or anthing besides computer?

I don't think so. It does not say anything about that. It's a hand held touch screen gaming system for kiddos 4 to 8. You can buy in stores the games and you can down load them straight from your pc. I have a PS3, never thought about trying to plug it in there.

so you can either purchase the games or download them from the computer? does it cost to download them?

I don;t know, have never tried. I always bought the cartridges. They them selves are not cheap though. This is basically a Nintendo Ds. for tiddlers and the games are pretty much just as expensive but they might be cheaper if you download them straight from the website. You can always check it out before you bid this if your not familiar with them. Thanks for checking out my auction

Most likely, but I never downloaded, always bought the game cartridges. Which aren't exactly cheap. These are a very well made and nice learning and game systems just like Nintendo dsl but for youngsters. You can Google them if you are not a fan but both of my little ones Loved them. They also run on AA
batteries.

I does charge to download games but it's much easier only bar cause then all the games are on the console instead of having so many of the games itself. Less hassle that the kiddies will lose one :)
