The listing, Vintage Real Cultured Oyster Suspending in Globe with Base has ended.

This unique item is truly different. It's a Real Cultured Oyster that was cultured by oriental farmers for over 5 years then opened and put in this globe to preserve it. The substance inside is like a gel that holds the Oyster in suspension. The bottom is a gravel base. This is vintage from the 70's and has the expected conditions of being so, with some dings to the globe and lost of silver coloring on the base. It does show some yellowing, but it still is very visible and a wonderful piece. Made by Nature Gems, the sticker on the bottom, which has felted pads, explains it all. This Oyster with Cultured Pearl Globe measures approx. 5" tall, base 4" wide and the globe is approx. 16" in diameter

* Note this item has been jarred some time in the past so upon delivery if not standing upright like it should be, all it takes is a circular jiggle motion to get it back in position. Well worth the jiggle :)

Really different! How big is the oyster itself , and the pearl ,roughly speaking. (I am a clammer I see oysters alll of the time, but pearls here are small (the oysters , too!)
