Questions & Comments
They probably overlayed it because if you know cloisonne it has so many goldtoned colors and therefore they would put it on a yellow gold chain...the chain is most likely silver but the clasp gets all the wear to it as well as it is the only place to stamp a necklace. The age of this piece tells me the jeweler that made it into a fine piece of artwork. They took pride in the piece. Cloisonne has a ton of gold wrapped around the colors therefore gold would be the chain of choice. It all depends on just how old the piece really is as to why it was on a gold plated sterling silver chain. Have an awesome auction and if I get the chance I will try and be back tomorrow to bid. Happy Evening :) Dovey
well just make sure I outbid everyone then no one can say diddly darn about any of it right? I will be back to bid when I gain enough credits to do so. Happy Day :) Dovey
Grrrr this piece is SO beautiful! And if course I'm out of credits! Someone is going to be very happy with this one! Well, hopefully the winner will appreciate this piece the way it deserves to be appreciated! LOVE it!
See ya later I gotta roll me a couple of cigs...can't afford it by the pack anymore so I roll them up instead. Not as good tasting but hey it works LoL! Ciao for now :)
If I can that is because the master is off on the day it ends and even tho I have nothing else to do because I am an adult and get so sick of cartoons so I get on here to pass my time but he says nooooo you have it all week blah blah blah (after he starts talking I tune him out that is the blah parts teehee) But if by a miracle he allows me on here...I will be looking into hopefully getting it...ok now I won't win it because I said I hope I do and everytime I do that I lose and I lose a lot of the times too LoL Happy Day :) Dovey
dawner i am retired from the jewelry business and i was not in sales i was in repair so your chain the clasps and everything look totally legit to me! Without it being in their hands and looked at thru a loupe or headgear...they do not know what they are looking at...it is a photo so the true colors are not even the same and as I said I have been collecting cloisonne for at least 20 years. My safe is full of all kinds of pieces and this one is stunning and hopefully I can add it to my collection! Happy Day :) Dovey
Thank you for vouching for this necklace and your positive comments are highly appreciated. initially I was also taking back that the chain it gold tone but clearly stamped sterling, but after doing a little research I saw that was what they did a lot of the time with this Art? I'm still not sure exactly why ? would you happen to know why they overlay gold on sterling? greatly appreciate any insight on it. fanned you, and thank you again good luck!
I can assure you that there hasn't been any clasp or ring switching on this necklace. I respect the fact that you have been in the jewelry business for 39 years, but if you google, or check e-bay or amazon you will see that quite often they overlay sterling with gold, my guess would be to enhance the gold in the beads. it may sound odd but anyone that knows about this art can vouch for this. I have had the necklace for over 20 years I acquired from grandma she had gotten it at an estate sale. I've never worn it . It is in awesome condition the photos do not do any justice. I must have taken 30 photos of it and couldn't capture it's beauty. Thanks for commenting, I fanned you back. ;) Good luck happy bidding. .
from looking at it it looks like someone changed the clasp to a sterling silver one because the jumper ring and the clasp are sterling silver and the chain is gold I make and have been in Jewelry for 39 years and if the chain is gold we use gold clasps and the same for silver but it is a very nice necklace and definitely worth some money these are really pretty necklaces.I'll be bidding .
