What does GMO mean? Are we getting loose seeds or on the cob? I'm a city girl just trying to learn. :)

GMO's are Genetically Modified Organisms.....Seed Companies like Monsanto, for instance, modify their seed they sell to the BIG farmers so that the seed they get from their crops will not germinate or grow properly! That means the farmer HAS to come back to their company to buy more seed! And there are cases where some growers are GMOing their seed so that produce will last longer on the grocery store shelves! For instance, a tomato producer GMO'd their tomato seeds with cold water fish cells! That means their tomatoes will then be more "cold hardy". There is talk out there for food manufacturers to have to label food that is GMO'd. They are fighting it hard! They don't want the public to know what they are doing to your food! And you would be VERY surprised how much of your food contains GMO's....That being said, let me tell you one side of their argument. They will tell you that food has been GMO'd for years, and to some extent this is true! (Like cross pollinating different corns to make them more disease resistant or bigger cobs, etc.) But these days, they are walking WAY over the line....in my opinion!

Hi Debra!! Hope you are doin well :) Thanks so much for explaining that, I only knew very little about that. Now I know :) You are right about not wanting us to know what is in food. That's only a fraction of what is being done to our food and other products! I have been researching for many years on all the toxic crap that is pumped into everything these days. Man don't get me started, LOL!!! :)

On a brighter note, I cant wait to plant these beauties from the seeds I got from you before. They are so unique!! <3

also even if the seed is not gmo..... some use a spray and or powders added later to cut down on molds and diseases for/when germinating and or when they grow..is also made by the GMO company... thus in long run modifies it swell...

I grow them for their ornamental value!! Some say it can be ground for flour or popped....I myself have not tried it! And no, I don't believe what I have is GMO. I know it's pretty rare and my roommate paid a fortune for the seed he started with last year!! Thanks for the inquiry!
