Questions & Comments
Could you please get verified? and can you please show where it is stamped "occupied Japan"? Thanks. All members of Lystia have to be verified per Listia rules.
To get verified, go to your accounts activity page. your main page.go down the left hand column intill you see account settings. below that you will see verify your account. click on that and answer about 5 or 6 questions, and you will be verified. so easy. can you tell me the measurements of this piece. and are there any markings on it at all. it looks to me like a silver butter dish, oe something like that. a lot depends on the size of it.
this is not a butter dish, the measurements are 4 1/2 x 3 1/4 x 2 1/2 inches in height. there are markings, some silverplate missing and a corner chipped off. It is stamped on the bottom Made in Occupied Japan.
First of all there is no Listia rule that says All Members HAVE to be verified. i don't know why someone would say such a thing. But I see you are now, and that's good. When I asked if there were any markings, I wasn't referring to marks or chips. I meant writings or logos. most silversmiths, like Wm Riodgers& Sons, or Godinger, leave their name or logo somewhere on the piece. Their mark so to speak. This was more than likely a part of a serving set. Whether it is for butter or condiments, or nuts. Could we please see a photo of the bottom.
Oh yeah, I forgot. Pieces that are marked occupied Japan, instead of Made in Japan, are from right after WWII. So that would be the early 1940's, or after 1941 to be precise Hope that helps.
You are so right they do not rule that you must be a verified Listia account! Whoever says that needs to go back and read the rules that they never read obviously! They only recommend it. And if not verified you bid and win at your own risk that is all period. Right debtate54? Or am I confused again LoL!
