Questions & Comments
You might want to try posting some of these in collectibles, if you have more. I know they are not old but might get some people checking one category, who will then see your listings in another category.
Oh yea, my family would love to see that sitting by the door (where I keep my lighters for going outside to smoke). And, putting the house on the market, wouldn't that be a great greeting for potential buyers???
When your first auctions end, keep in mind you will not get your credits until the winner has received the lighter and clicked "got it" on the listing. Once you have sold 15 items and received positive feedback for them, you will get your credits as soon as the auction ends.
When you ship, copy and past the address onto a document and print it out, don't hand-write the addresses. This ensures it won't get lost in the mail. Also, I use sturdy manilla envelopes, you can buy them in large quantities in the office-supply stores. I cut them in half, and use the wide, heavy boxing tape to cover all the edges, very neatly so they don't get caught in the mailing machines. Then tape your address label onto the package, THEN put on the three stamps -- do NOT put tape over the stamps.
So, ship quick, remind people after a few days to go to the listing and click "got it," and don't plan to spend your credits right away, because you won't have them for a few days. But, once all your auctions clear you'll have a really nice pile of credits ... that's when things get exciting!
You are developing some followers with these lighters, so it's probably a good idea to list more to keep the momentum going. Don't list TOO many ending in a single day. In your listings, give bidders a heads-up about your future listings, so they know to get some auctions going and save some credits for your auctions. That's what I do in my listings.
Ask your daughter to take some photos of you when you get your hair done. It will probably look really nice when the hairdresser is done with it. Get her to take a BUNCH of photos so you have some choices and can choose one with a facial expression you like. One good thing to do is stand outside with the light to your back. Just try lots of different photos, in different places, maybe with your grandaughters so you have a really happy, natural smile.
Then e-mail your favorites to me (one or two at a time, otherwise they will bounce back), I can edit them and send them back to you. You won't have to wait.
Another thought is that if you want to come to my house, I could also put a little makeup on you to take a photo. Makeup helps a lot with photos ... in this photo I was going to a party, more makeup than I usually wear but looks very good in a photo!
Oh, that's a good idea about the photo ... I'll be back March 23, so e-mail me to set up a time. I come into Des Moines every morning to drop my kid (and a few others) at Central Academy, at 10 am. Maybe we can meet at Starbucks or something!
Also, this auction is doing great ... will be fun to see where it goes!
o. k., if I forget to get ahold of you the 23 or 24, make sure you e-mail me! It sounds fun! I couldn't believe how much it went up in credits! And also the number of bidders! It was great to see!! I've got a whole bunch of novelty lighters (pigs, cow, frog, drill, a battery, a hammer ) and MANY more I'm going to list, But first I want to get a bottle of butane lighter fluid and make sure the ones I list work. They should, they are all new.
You are building up a LOT of fans ... wow, and this auction is taking off! You'll have your "seller wings" in no time. Congrats, Lil! I'll be away on vacation from Thursday until March 22, so please don't worry if I don't respond to your e-mails and comments, I just won't be able to spend that much time on a computer and will probably focus on answering questions posted to my listings. Just so you know, I'm not abandoning you or being rude ...
You'll be going on vacation on my B-day! I'm going to go to Omaha to see my daughter and her three girls. She wants to take me and have my hair done for my B-day, so when you get back I would like for you to take a HEAD shot for Llista if you will have the time.
Communicating clearly and usually quickly (and friendly) is KEY to Listia. People have to trust you and feel you are intelligent enough to deal with successfully. So, dust off those communication skills ... good for your brain when you're an at-home Mom, too ... trust me, I know!
Yes, I've replied to all of the questions & comments, I've been as helpful as I could, answering any questions they may have and I think I've done it in a timely manner. At least I hope!
Lookin good ... I noticed on those Coke points auctions that people make the titles different by adding astericks and stuff to the titles. That's probably because Listia doesn't allow the same auction to be listed multiple times ... just have to change the titles a bit.
I noticed that to, I think my brain was having a melt down, I couldn't think. It's been a LOOOOONG time since I had to think of words to write. Alot is in the wording, don't you think?
This new Listia seller is a friend of mine in the great state of Iowa who I highly recommend. She has a TON of stuff to list and could become the next Listia queen! Check MY listings and feedback if you have doubts...
