I live in Missouri and where I am located, there is a lot of clay in the soil. Would I have to put some potting soil and at least mix some compost in with the clay for the rooting system?

that sounds good i think they would grow like crazy then, when you get them i would put them in pots first you can leave them outside ,we have a lot of clay here too and we mixed compost mixed with top soil and i transplanted a start during the fall and its growing like mad ,its like winter didn't fase it ,i just stuck it in the ground and negleted it to see how tough these buggars are and it made it thriugh winter and even when we had our cold snap the buggars made it sprouting green leaves ,even the ones i dug up and forgot about are growing new leaves and theve been all winter bare root. I have to say this is a good type of raspberry plants you don't need a green thumb for this type.

Can these be put in a row and trained to run on wires like a tame blackberry? If I were to win, this will be my first time planting berries.

Thanks. Now all I have to do is win the auction! Lol. We're making a small vegetable garden this year because of the prices of veggies are probably going to go up since they cut off the water supply to the vegetable farmers in California. I have lots of flower beds, so this year my daughter and grand-daughter are going to learn how to tend to a vegetable garden. (I haven't told them yet. LOL)
