The listing, Paris Island Romaine and More!! has ended.

Min 200 Romaine Seeds! If this auction reaches 200pts, I will add a bonus lettuce and for each fifty points past that, I will also include another veggie or flower of your choice from the following:
Okra, Swiss Chard, Butternut Squash, African Marigolds Mix, Bachelor Buttons Mix, Zinnia Mix, and Lemon Cucumber. YOU MUST SPECIFY WHEN YOU SEND YOUR ADDRESS!! Happy Bidding:)
This popular Romaine has upright growth to 10 inches with large thick medium green slightly rumpled leaves with creamy white centers. Tender, crisp and sweet flavored. It is tolerant to many lettuce diseases and is slow bolting. Approximately 65 days to maturity.

Special Directions for Short Season Climates

SOWING: Start early indoors or seed directly outdoors from early to mid spring. Sow again in late summer for fall crop. Barely cover seed with 1/8 inch fine soil.

THINNING AND TRANSPLANTING: Once plants are established thin or transplant to 10 to 12 inches apart. Transplant outdoors after danger of severe frost has passed. If your soil is rich and you use a good fertilizer like fish emulsions or worm castings often, then you can plant eight inches apart to save space. You can even plant more closely of you pick young, which is my favorite way to eat in salad or stir fry.

SPACING: Leave 18 inches between rows. For bedding in small areas space 10 to 12 inches apart in all directions. This can also be grown in pots on a porch. I have found a lot of success using whiskey barrels and large planters such as galvanized steel tubs for planting on the porch.

GERMINATION: Approximately one week to ten days. Start seed in cool 55 to 60 degree F temperatures. Keep soil moderately moist during germination. You can sprout one to two inches apart in the same pot and transplant. This makes it easy to sprout just twenty to thirty at a time all summer. Transplant when one to two inches.

Will these produce their own viable seeds?

Yes, this is also sold by heirloom companies. Let the plant bolt and seed, then collect the seeds after flowers wilt on the stem before the birds get them. Let to finish drying in a dry protected area until the seeds pinch out of the buds when you roll them between your fingers. Doesnt take much to collect for year to year. Seeds only germinate well for up to the next year's season.

Sure thing! I love lettuce! It's the best any time of day, especially if you work on a farm all day:) Very refreshing! There are usually way more seeds than offered in my auctions so maybe I can include another surprise bonus as well or we can discuss other things you may like. I have so many varieties of seed to choose from for anyone who wants choices. Fanned you back!

I just upped the seeds amount to 400 Romaine. I have way too much this year and no time to start it all! It's only good for the year, so enjoy the extra. Share or plant a bunch!!!
